Time with Poetry #1

A poem I wrote during high school. Inspired by the poem “Nobody but You” by Charles Bukowski.

Locked Box, Found Key

Yes, it is true
That no one can save
You but yourself.
There are times when you
Feel like giving up, thinking that
There is no future for you.
But that’s not the
Whole truth.

The truth of saving
Yourself,
Is to find your
Self-worth.
That self-confidence that is
Inside of us all,
That is trapped in a cage
Just waiting to be free.

And where there is a
Locked box, there is a key.
And a road that leads to it.
To you it feels as if you must
Walk that road alone.
That part is always terrifying
To those who felt alone.
But you’re not alone,
Because the key to opening
That cage is inspiration.

And when you find that
Inspiration, whether it is
A place,
A person,
Or an object.
Then any cage
You want to open,
Or any road
You want to walk,
Will never be terrifying.
Because you will have
The inspiration to do it.
